Selected Astronomy Websites

Raymond Gilchrist’s Astrophotography Website. Ray shows incredible photography of everything from noctilucent clouds, solar system objects, and deep sky. There’s good info on equipment used also, be sure to also check out Ray’s photos on Flickr.

Pete Lawrence is a well known presenter on the BBC Sky at Night, his Digital Sky website features amazing images of the night sky, also including general nature shots.

See live Aurora as it happens from the Aurora Sky Station Live Camera based at the Abisko Mountain Station, Sweden.

A site dedicated to the problem of the wasted light from towns and cities, destroying our views of the night sky. It includes a cool night sky simulator so you can see just how dark, or not, your sky is.

I highly recommend Astronomy Cast, a regular podcast by Fraiser Cain of Universe Today, and Dr Pamela Gay. It delves deep into everything there is about space and astronomy, while being entertaining.

Dark Sky Discovery is a useful site to find the darkest places in the UK for astronomy, where you can also find sites that hold stargazing events.

Jason Major is a space blogger at Universe Today, Discovery News, National Geographic News, and often appears on Universe Today’s ‘Weekly Space Hangout’. This is Jason’s ‘Lights in The Dark’ blog on everything space and astronomy.
