What is this object ?
  • Hello everyone, jimijames hear, I was hopeing, can you help me with this object in my photo, I took this photo at the new forest on Tuesday 3rd at 22:15, faceing West at 280 and 10 dig high, I only had 20 min's to track this object before it went too low, for the first few moments i was thinking it was Mars ? but the more I zoom into the pic it looking more like a nebular of some kind ? what do you think.
  • Dunno when I was stuck with somthin I make a discussion called a question to betelgeuse the man who made the site and he always replys giving me a very good answer. Maybe you should try that.

  • I done a question to betelgeuse and he says it is the betelgeuse star in Orion.

  • I will check the Pictures tonight, I have just found them, they ended up in my spam folder?
  • Based on all the information and the pictures, I agree "Betelgeuse" is my best guess!
  • Yes I think it probably is Betelgeuse too, and it could very easily be mistaken for Mars. Jimijames were you using a scope or watching it naked eye?
  • I was using a scope with a 8mm lense
  • Betelgeuse is a red giant and does appear red in colour, especially through a telescope, so that's why it would be easy to mistake it for Mars.
