So Curiosity touched down safely then.
  • What a remarkable feat! :-)

  • Fantastic
  • Excellent!!!!!! :)>-
  • JPL have now released a stop motion film of the descent from a camera on the bottom of curiosity. From heat shield seperation to touchdown.

  • Thanks for posting Champagnerocker...

This is amazing, I was up at the crack of dawn to witness the landing. Nail biting was an understatement, it was so good to see the relief and celebration.

Watching the landing animation again, was stunning...that's what really happened, Incredible. If they pulled this off what else are they capable of doing, landing a boat on a lake of Titan?

I thought the descent pictures of Curiosity would be distant and grainy affairs, but it's the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter with its HiRISE camera, it takes incredible images of the surface of Mars.

I saw those images of the dust shield and landing video live coming from Nasa TV, was blown away.

This would have been very bad if it had failed, not just for this mission, but it would have put Mars exploration back maybe a decade.

Let's see what the huge rover finds on Mars, will it find a place hospitable to life, past or present?
  • Great images Champagnerocker i know its early days but how long before we start getting any info from Curiosity ,am really keen too hear from it..
