monocular
  • Just bought a Opticron 8x25 monocular Trailfinder WP 11.Weathers been terrible but on Sun.the nite was semi clear so walked from Oxford to Cumnor and back over the hills was able to see the Dumbell Nebula,M27 and various globulars,M13,and open clusters.Found my 8x42 to take up a bit too much space on my nocturnal ambles especially if Ive got a lot of stuff in my pack.
  • how are these monoculars on viewing the planets? do you get any detail at all?
  • I have a 10x25 monocular that i keep in the car. Mine's not very good for night viewing but good for bird watching in the day time.
The moon looks ok with it.
But my monocular was a ebay £15 cheapie you get what you pay for
  • U can get a good view of planets in monoculars.Seen Neptune with the 8x25 one.Obviously the bigger the front the more light youll get in as with any optical equipment but bigger means heavier and more space taken up if like me u travel a lot.
