Have a look on the home page lots of info on what to see with binoculars.

I have a few but a good all rounder is 10x50's
I use these the most but i also have 7x30 15x70 and 20x80's very big and need a tripod.
Dont buy zoom binoculars waste of money i have a pair and are a joke.

I like celestron binoculars the 20x80 are very good quality and are my fav's

  • I have a pair of 10X50 at the moment which are great to use. I will soon invest in a pair of Celestron 20X80s.
  • Hi Joe, welcome to the Astronomy Central Forum.

I have a pair of Celestron 20x80's, and Nikon 8X40's. Good advice from Marc and Karl, as 10x50's are very good for astronomy. They're probably as large as you can get to still comfortably hold without needing a tripod.

If you go for 20x80's you're definitely going to need a tripod, as they are heavy.
  • forget about price, which produces the best viewing results, joe
  • Some top binocular makes are Canon, Nikon, Celestron, Pentax, Swarovsky, Leica, Zeiss, Swift

With a top make and 50mm+ aperture you can't go wrong. Try Jodrell Bank's advice page on binoculars for astronomy http://www.jodrellbank.manchester.ac.uk/astronomy/nightsky/binoculars.html

    Good luck.
