The crescent Moon & Venus on 25th Feb (and Jupiter & Mercury)
  • Be sure to check out the crescent Moon/Venus conjunction, on the 25th of February in the west at/after dusk. With Jupiter to upper left, and Mercury close to the horizon.

If you're lucky enough to get clear skies, it's going to be a good sight.

Love those crescent Moon and bright planet pair ups...with added Earthshine !
  • Thanks for the info Betelgeuse :)

Fingers crossed it's clear that night, this cloudy weather must break sometime soon!.
  • had a couple of cloudless hours moon, venus, jupiter all lined up looked amazing and mars a little later to the east so glad i started astronomy again brilliant. ;)
  • Hi Johno I had broken cloud but managed to get intermittent views of the slim crescent Moon, with Venus to upper left, and Jupiter higher. Mercury was a big ask though, clouds on the horizon put a stop to that one.

Don't miss it tonight (Saturday 25th), look again and Venus will be just over 1 degree to the right of that crescent Moon.
  • Yep great cresent moon and easy to spot Venus and Jupiter just slightly higher in the night sky.
    lovely clear skies here
  • cloud back with avengance grrrrrrrr but still got a decent view
  • just had a nice look at mars and looking forward to Saturn rising.
  • Unfortunately I never managed to get a view of the crescent Moon right next to Venus on Saturday 25th Feb, as was totally clouded out.

    Anyone else have any luck?

Next good conjunction sees Venus and Jupiter forming a close pair in the west 12/13th of March .
  • sorry just got back on line at home so be on here more often, saw it on the 25th as we down in south had brillent clear sky , was working all night so did not get the telescope out :( but it was beauitful .
