Here is my first image of the Severn Sisters taken a couple of weeks ago, about 50 frames using DSS what do you think?:) any advise as to improve the image welcome;)
Lovely image very sharp, perhaps you need longer exposures to bring out the nebulous area's? but still its a great start, do you take darks as well? if I use 50 frames I would at least take 15 darks to offset any light pollution. here is an older image of the Pleides to show what I mean : http://www.flickr.com/photos/raygil/6026338702/
30 secs is the max I think I used 5secs for the Pleiades, I got the Polar scope for my scope, cant quite get it paralell but it seems good enough for now.I used 1600ISO, The Sony has a lot of noise at 3200ISO. I have adjusted exposure etc on PS. I have a lot of light polution where I am:(
Try 15 - 20 second exposures and then take the usual blacks, the longer exposure will bring out the nebulosity, or try the Orion nebula, look forward to seeing the results,
I have tried the Orion Nebular but I have so much light polution the picture comes out too Orange to adjust out without loosing the image. I took this, it was near to Andromeda, but after getting rid of the polution this is what is left http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm101/djbozz1/Astronomy/Andro001.jpg need to get to a dark site:)
