Takes my breath away . What a glorious sight .
  • Never fails to make me gasp in utter awe when I look up into a stunning night sky . I just adore Orion , so magnificent , must buy some more powerful binocs' , as I long to see the stellar nebular . Bit like being a child in a sweet shop , there are so many fantastic sights to choose from , really don't know where to start . Can't wait for some spectacular meteor showers and one of my top ambitions is to see the Northern Lights .
Better stop as I'm starting to babble !!
  • Hi Pleione and welcome to the Astronomy Central Forum. Orion is fantastic, especially from a dark sight. The night sky is incredible even just with the unaided eye.

I've been out of luck with the latest UK northern lights sightings, due to cloudy weather/rain. If you can't see the aurora where you are, why not have a look at northern Sweden with the 'Aurora Sky Station Live Camera' http://www.auroraskystation.com/live-camera/9/

  • Betelgeuse thanks for the welcome and tip about the Aurora Sky Station Live Camera . What a fantastic idea . It was really frustrating to know that the Northern lights were visible from here , but the cloud cover prevented sightings . Think it's going to be clear Friday night so look forward to a happy few hours freezing with my new hobby . Only wish I lived miles away from light pollution .
