Hey folks, Broke my cherry on a couple of things last week, got a nice clear night and armed myself with my 10x50's in the middle of nowhere. Now! This made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end........ you guys have probably seen it all before but I got a nice view of the Great Nebula in Orion for the first time and then (outstanding) .... got my first view of Andromeda. I was speechless, absolutely stunning. And just to polish a great night off, my first view of Mars and Venus followed by a couple of meteors. What a lovely thing to be doing in the wee hours.
Take it easy folks and fingers crossed for clear skies. Have a nice day. Andy
Well done Andy, sounds like you had a good night's stargazing. Just amazing that you can actually see something that exists outside the Milky Way, with a pair of binos. (and bigger than the Milky Way)
...hey and even a few meteors to top it off!
Did you manage to see the profile, of Andromeda? Using averted vision, the fainter outskirts of the galaxy may just reveal itself to your peripheral vision
