  • PC World/Currys have a good selection, I got a fully adjustable one with weight hook etc for £45.
  • I have just bought an excellent tripod to use with the same binoculars as you have Karl. I bought them brand new on Ebay and I'm very happy with them as they are perfect to hold the binos dead still. They have a lovely soft fluid head so no jerks or wobbles for fine tuning. I can post you a link to the site shop that I bought them from which is a very reputable one and they where just over a hundred quid. £110

I Don't know what the rules are on posting a link to ebay on here so I will wait for your reply Karl as you seem to know your way around the discussion etiquette.

  • Hey, it's fine no problem. Any links posted are ok to help members out :-)
  • Thanks again Beteleuse
  • Hi Karl Ive just looked to find my tripod on the site but they all seem to have gone ....I think he had 20 of them but just realised that was two months ago now. So I will give the link here as there are other fluid head tripods on there ....some less and some more than I paid for mine but I'm sure you will be able to make up your own mind balancing cost and quality. Good luck !

  • This one is perhaps the closest to what I bought .....it seems even better if anything and as a result it's a few more shekels !

  • Just watched the video ( on the last item page) of a buyer putting it together and using it for the first time. You can see the advantages of the fluid head when he has camera on full tele the pan is still very smooth just imagine that with your binos.
  • Hi Tom and thanks for the links.
The one with the video looks the best and is a nice size.
Not to sure if i'm going to pay £150 for a tripod but i now know what to look for now.
    cheers tom

  • Good day folks.
I have also been having a bit of trouble finding a suitable tripod for my binoculars, I have been checking vigourously online for the last few days and cannot seem to find an appropriate model.

I was wondering if anyone could possibly point me in the right direction of a tripod which can be used for standing observation, I am 6 ft tall, I have found (Zhumell astronomical tripod) which is 6 ft, but with the binocular angle pointing skywards I would still have to bend a little I think?, and the other one is a (Garret 5000 series) which is 7 ft and a suitable height me thinks, but the Garret can only be purchased from America and the postage alone is £100, I have only about £150-£180 to spend. Most of the tripods I have found are too small. Does anyone know of a large tripod capable of holding 20x80's and usable for standing observation in this price range?

Any help would be most gratefull.

    Many many thanks folks.
    have a nice day. :)
  • I have a velbon sherpa 450r which i got off ebay cheap but is very good and also tall.
i'm 6ft and can stand upright and take photos with it.
When i use my celestrons 25x80 i need a chair to use them.
