So did any of you guys catch a glimpse of the aurora? The clouds rolled in here around 7pm monday night after i set my scope out and its been like that since! Other parts of ireland got a view though. Hopefully there will be more chances to see them this year as the sun is to be very active this year.
Hi Stephen, I've had absolutely no luck with the northern lights, including the last time they were around a few months back. Cloud and rain every time...cruel !!
Hopefully there's still activity during the next night or two.
They even had the northern lights as a feature on Wednesday's Radio2 Jeremy Vine show.
I liked the apocryphal story that the northern lights were called the "herring flash" by certain old Scandanavian tribes, because they believed they resembled reflections of large shoals of fish.
someone asked me today at work if I had seen the northern lights through my binos I mentioned the cloud and rain and then uttered something about them being seen best the more north you go ....they looked at my quizzically ! .....Ive just sent them Betelgeuse link to those stunning photos !
We went to Iceland tail end of January specifically to see this but afraid it was cloudy and wet the whole time we were there. Anybody else get a peek ?
hey guys i live in glasgow and the only view of the lights was a purple sky to the n.w. too cloudy in the east, but spoke recently to a friend who lives in the outer hebridies (isle of barra) where the aurora is commonplace and even he says"beautiful " but totally taken for granted, after midnight light pollution is 00.1`%,
