NIce video of Comet Lovejoy going past the Sun to emerge on the other side. I like the way it wriggles from the solar wind, awesome stuff. http://astronomycentral.co.uk/
This was certainly a lucky escape for Lovejoy and fantastic pictures too. Can somebody answer me a question though? I aways understood the tail of a comet always pointed away from the sun due to the solar winds. Even when travelling away from the sun, the tail would be in front of a comet, but the tail of Lovejoy appears to stay in the line of travel (though obviously you can not see the head) as it emerges from behind the sun. Am I mistaken or is this some sort of visual distortion going on here?
