The location of members would be nice so we could meet up for a star party or chat. I live in witham essex and never know where to go with my telescope. I dont really want to join a club as i dont do crowds
I'm fortunate enough to live in a part of East Sussex that gets more hours of sunshine than anywhere else in the UK, which also means more hours of clear night skies than most localities. If it wasn't for the light pollution it would be an ideal place for stargazing.
I'm just down the road from you Karl, in light polluted Chelmsford. There are some decent skies around us but need to drive to get to them. The Dengie Peninuslar has our darkest skies in Essex, 25mins from Chelmsford.
I glad that we are all getting to know where we all live. Tinca i used to drive a bus round the dengie peninuslar and you are right there is some nice dark skies in essex
Hello every-one, I've been away for a very long time and i have just got back to this forum, I live in southampton, I go to the new forest for my viewing and astrophotography, the new forest is a lovely place for astronomy : nice a quiet. I think it would be good to meet up somewere for some stargazing
Guildford Surrey is my domain, lots of light pollution around here, there are a few spots Newlands corner for one, also GAS have a site in Holbry St Mary & Albury, I must join their club.:)
I'm in Coventry (worst luck). I've not long moved back here after living over in Waterford, Ireland for the past few years. The skies were great over there. Hardly any light pollution at all. And when you went out into the countryside it was even better. Moving back to Cov has made realise just how much difference light pollution makes.
so karl, your in witham, im in wickham bishops, near enough?, im a complete novice whos expertise runs to looking thru binocs occasionally, i have just bought a new scope ( not a flash expensive one ) so perhaps when im up & running in the new year we can arrange something,
Hi all. I live in north Wiltshire (UK, for non-UKadians). I have had an interest in astronomy since I was a small boy, which has continued unabated for the last 40 years. I have a small refractor at present but I am hoping to upgrade to something (much) larger next year now....I have more time on my hands. :o)
I'm new and have just bought myself a telescope but would love to meet with others for advice but I live up north and you all seem to be south. Anyone in Greater Manchester or Lancashire? Nelly
Buckingham, and they have recently turned all the non essencial street lights off behind my garden, so I have pretty black skys, although would prefer them even blacker!
Hi Everyone I am in PEVENSEY, EAST SUSSEX, at night when the sky is clear, There is no light pollution, so millions of stars can be seen. PERFECT...............
ey up m8 i'm in leeds too i think it would be a cool idea for all members to arange a meet up somewhere a bit difficult but do able leeds isnt the best place to scan the sky,but the moors would be perfect shame the weather is always a tad pants.but the experienced chappies here may be able to suggest a meeting point, just a thought hope i'm not weirding anyone out, just want to see the sky's in a better light.and in response to your last, high ground not too much light, bramley, pudsey area isnt bad,but to get the best conditions a bit further afield.
live and observe in Salisbury . my place of observing in works back garden , I work in the rifles museum in Salisbury , Any one in the local area most welcome for a chat or to arrange a time to meet up , have no transport,so can not transport 12 inch scope anywhere .
become an electricity overhead linesman on night faults and get the best and darkest nights free of any light pollution. the number of sattelites to see is marvelous Vulca Yorkshire
I am based up on the wirral, just across the river from liverpool and its blinding lights, the darkest spot I have found within peddling distance is Caldy way overlooking the River Dee past Wirral Country Park.
